480 Students Certified Through Dual VET Education in Kosovo

Introduction

A total of 480 students from 27 vocational schools across Kosovo have successfully completed the practical examinations and certification process within the Dual Vocational Education and Training (Dual VET) system, marking an important milestone in the continued implementation of dual education in Kosovo.

Students were certified in 12 vocational profiles, demonstrating the knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies acquired through a combination of school-based learning and workplace training.

Strengthening skills for employment

The certification process represents a significant step in supporting young people’s transition from education to employment.

Through the Dual VET model, students benefit from structured cooperation between vocational schools and enterprises, allowing them to gain practical experience in real working environments while completing their formal education.

The successful completion of examinations reflects the joint efforts of students, schools, enterprises, and institutions committed to strengthening vocational education and workforce development in Kosovo.

A collaborative effort

The implementation of the certification process required close cooperation between educational institutions, the private sector, and development partners.

The certification ceremonies were attended by representatives of national and international institutions, including:

  • The Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Kosovo
  • The Ministry of Education and Science
  • The Department for Vocational Education and Training (DVET)
  • LuxDev – Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency
  • The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce
  • Municipal Education Directorates
  • Vocational schools and partner companies

Their participation highlighted the importance of continued collaboration in building a modern and labour market-oriented vocational education system.

Recognizing the contribution of schools and enterprises

The successful implementation of the examinations and certification process would not have been possible without the dedication and professionalism of school principals, teachers, coordinators, company mentors, and Examination commission members.

Particular recognition is extended to partner companies that actively contributed to practical training and student assessment, strengthening the link between education and labour market needs.

Their commitment plays a crucial role in preparing young people for future employment opportunities and supporting the development of a skilled workforce.

Looking ahead

The certification of 480 students represents another important milestone in the implementation of Dual VET in Kosovo and demonstrates the value of strong cooperation between schools, businesses, and public institutions.

As Dual VET continues to expand, these efforts contribute to improving employability, supporting economic development, and creating better opportunities for young people across Kosovo.

About the Initiative

The certification process was implemented within the framework of the project “Skills for Sustainable Employment in Kosovo”, funded by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science and LuxDev – Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency.

The process was supported through the cooperation of vocational schools, partner enterprises, the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, and ITED – Institute for Training and Economic Development, a pioneering organization in the development and introduction of the Dual VET model in Kosovo. Through its continued engagement in curriculum development, capacity building, examination systems, and stakeholder coordination, ITED remains a key implementation partner in advancing Dual VET and supporting a model that may serve as an example for vocational education reforms across the region.
